ROLE
The role of the Estimator – Sales Rep (ESR) is to increase Company sales and profitability by accurately estimating roofing jobs and effectively handling the related responsibilities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following major areas of activities. Other duties may be assigned.

Sales, Estimating & Customer Service
1. Follow up on leads and referrals on a timely basis.
2. Perform take-offs and generate estimates and proposals (including roof drawings). Must have Branch Manager or Vice President sign off on estimates prior to submitting proposals to customers.
3. Present proposals to customers and close sales.
4. Direct creation of turnover package on a timely basis.
5. Market additional services (including maintenance) to existing customers.
6. Visit top customers on a periodic basis; maintain and nurture customer relationships.
7. Respond to customer inquiries, requests and complaints on a timely basis.
8. Submit detailed drawings, samples, materials specifications and applications to architects, construction managers and/or building owners.
9. Attend pre-job meetings with Supervisor.
10. Ensure timely obtaining of permits (the cost of which must be built into the estimates).
11. Arrange for callbacks within the first year after job completion.
12. Ensure proper flow of information from the jobsite to the office, including Next-Day Planner and Foreman’s Daily Report (to be completed by Project Supervisor, Foreman or Subcontractor).
13. Ensure strict adherence to change order documentation and signoff prior to work being performed. Provide information for change order billing on a timely basis.


Job Closeout
1. Responsible for tracking and verifying completion of punch list and Final Inspection Report at end of job.
2. With Branch Manager, review operations performance on each project and identify changes that would enhance the profitability of future projects.
3. Notify Operations Assistant of job completion, so that final paperwork for manufacturer’s warranty can be processed. Follow up to make sure that we received the warranty.
4. Provide turnover to Service for followup work beyond the callback period.

Reporting
1. Turn in the Monthly Estimator’s Report to the Branch Manager by the 5th of each month for the prior month. Branch Manager reviews report and forwards it to Chief Administrative Officer.
2. Review job costing with Branch Manager.

Professional Development
1. Keep up-to-date on industry trends and developments.
2. Attend relevant industry seminars and training.
3. Read relevant trade magazines.

OTHER DUTIES
Perform other duties as assigned. These may include performing take-offs and other activities that support the Senior Estimators.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Two to four years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

COMMUNICATION and INTERPERSONAL SKILLS
Ability to communicate effectively with Company employees at all levels, with customers, and with vendors. Ability to read and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, vendors, and Company employees. Must be cooperation-oriented team player, aligned with the Company goals.

ORGANIZATIONAL SKILLS
Good time-management skills. Well-organized. Meticulous attention to detail. Good follow-up. Ability to handle multiple tasks and last-minute changes in scheduling. Ability to maintain progress over time towards defined goals regardless of day-to-day challenges and distractions.

MATH and COMPUTER SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent. Must be reasonably “computer literate,” with good word processing skills, ability to use spreadsheet software, and have the ability to learn and accurately use the software systems used by the Company.

REASONING ABILITY, PROBLEM-SOLVING SKILL
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with new sets of variables in situations. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must have and maintain clean driver’s license.
